Kalpitiya is famous for its long, untouched beaches and pristine waters. The nearby Kalpitiya Peninsula is home to some lesser-known and tranquil beaches like Alankuda Beach, ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The region is also famous for its small islands like Dutch Bay, which can be explored by boat.

Whale and Dolphin Watching

Kalpitiya is one of the best places in Sri Lanka for whale and dolphin watching. You can take boat tours to spot various marine creatures, including spinner dolphins and blue whales, particularly during the migratory season (usually from November to April).

Wildlife and Nature

Besides the marine life, Kalpitiya is near the Wilpattu National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest national parks. It’s a great place for safari tours, where you can spot leopards, elephants, bears, and various species of birds.
